Monastery Friends & Family

No visit to Ukraine would be complete without a visit to the home of Pani (Mrs) Lesia and Pani Maria.
These two good and holy women devoted a many years of their lives to looking after Basilian nuns
in the days the Church had to exist underground. The time spent with them seems to fly by
as they recount the sufferings of the Greek Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Nation
under Soviet persecution, stories often as amusing as they are serious.

Ivan and Josephine Sim, of Mosgiel, New Zealand, after Holy Mass for their Golden Jubilee
of marriage on 6 December 2002. Rev. Fr Michael Mary, their son, was celebrant,
and Mass was served by Br Nicodemus Mary.

Dr and Mrs Pierre Savi, parents of Br Louis Marie, were most welcome guests over Christmastime. They made a point of visiting the statue of Our Lady of Fatima on Golgotha Monastery Island during their stay.

After the profession Mass, braving sea, ice and snow, Mrs. Hollowood,
assisted by her son Br. Paul Mary, C.SS.R., visited Papa Stronsay for the feast day dinner.
