religious kneel before altar

After Communion during the Mass of Profession on 2nd February,
in the new Our Lady’s Chapel on the Stronsay pier,
the newly professed religious kneel together and return thanks to God and to Our Lady
for the grace of their religious profession: “I am no longer mine but Thine, my God.
Receive the holocaust by which I intend to give myself totally and integrally to Thee….”

priests bless the first fruits

An ancient custom
on Easter Sunday:
the blessing of the first fruits.

Every year, at Easter, we are priveleged to be able to use this ancient baptismal font, found on Papa Stronsay, during the Paschal Vigil Mass for the blessing of the new Paschal and Baptismal waters. After centuries it has returned to its place of honour.
